Spring between art, play and discovery: Educational activities from March to June 2026

The Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze and Musei del Bargello are offering a new calendar of educational activities for families with children, schools, adults, and special audiences. From March to June 2026, the museum system will offer numerous opportunities for discovery and active participation, including creative workshops, thematic and inclusive tours, and initiatives dedicated to children, offering tours that allow them to explore the collections through accessible languages ​​and participatory methods.

Among the programs for adults is Art and Power at Museo delle Cappelle Medicee, scheduled from March 19th to June 28th 2026 on mondays, fridays, and sundays at 10:00 am and 12:00 pm, and on thursdays at 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. The in-depth tour explores the main rooms, from Michelangelo’s New Sacristy to the Chapel of the Princes, all the way to the crypts, recounting the history of the Medici family and the monument’s political and symbolic significance. Participation does not require reservations and has no additional costs and is subject to availability, by contacting the museum staff directly.

The Complesso di Orsanmichele offers Across History, Faith, and Florentine Legends with a focus on one of the city’s most unique monuments, born from the intertwining of civic, religious, and corporate functions. Meetings are held every monday, wednesday, thursday, and friday at 11:00 am and 2:30 pm, saturday at 10:00 am, 11:30 am, 2:30 pm, and 4:00 pm, and sunday at 11:00 am (except the first sunday of the month). Groups are formed directly at the museum shortly before the tour begins, with a maximum of 15 participants. There is no additional charge for this activity.

There will be school activities at Museo di Palazzo Davanzati on April 21 and May 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with activities aimed at primary and secondary schools, will offer students the opportunity to explore the history and spaces of the house-museum. Reservations are required by 12:00 p.m. on the previous friday at ga-afi-mn-bar.didattica@cultura.gov.it.

At the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze the workshop The Art of Drawing: Thinking Through Lines will be held on saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. This workshop introduces participants to the basics of life drawing through the observation of artistic and architectural elements. On saturday, April 11, at 4:30 p.m., the workshop Divine Light in Paintings will allow participants to discover and experiment with the gilding technique, using the same method that, since the middle Ages, artists have embellished their panel paintings to create the luminous reflections of gold. Finally on saturday, May 9, at 10:30 a.m. From Clay to Marble, the Birth of Sculpture will show participants the various phases of the sculptor’s creative process, from the modeling of the sketch to the creation of the final work. The activities are free, reservations are required at info@culter.it.

At Museo delle Cappelle Medicee children can participate at Traveling with Semiprecious Stones workshop, scheduled for saturday, March 28th and saturday, April 18th at 4:00 PM. This workshop focuses on the florentine mosaic technique and the precious materials from around the world used to create the Cappella dei Principi. Also at Cappelle Medicee Guess the City will be held on saturday, May 30th and saturday, June 20th at 4:00 PM, inviting children to identify Tuscan cities and symbols through the coats of arms depicted throughout the monumental complex. The activities are free with reservations by 12:00 pm of the previous friday at ga-afi-mn-bar.didattica@cultura.gov.it.

The Museo di Palazzo Davanzati is offering activities designed to introduce children to everyday life in the past. Thanks to the series How Do You Dress? scheduled for saturday, March 21st and saturday, June 27th at 3:00 pm participants will discover Renaissance fashion and fabrics through the museum’s collection of lace and embroidery. On saturday, April 18th at 3:00 pm In the Fantastic World of Chivalry will be held, a workshop dedicated to the stories and imagery of courtly culture. The activities are free with reservations by 12:00 pm of the previous friday at ga-afi-mn-bar.didattica@cultura.gov.it.

Also at Palazzo Davanzati on sunday, May 10th at 10:30 a.m., it will take place the game Museum Hunt!.  This game is aimed at children aged 3 to 6 offering a playful introduction to the rooms and objects of a 14th-century florentine home. Through the eyes of the youngest daughter of the Davanzati family, participants will discover the secrets of the tower houses, the use of the kitchen and utensils, and the great luxury of the well and water. This activity is free, but reservations are required at info@culter.it.

At Museo Nazionale del Bargello the workshop Once Upon a Time… Stories of Games from the Past will be held on saturday, April 11th and saturday, June 13th at 10:30 a.m., inviting children and families to discover how people spent their free time in the past through objects and curiosities from the collections. Horses, elephants, jesters, and ladies will lead young visitors through the museum’s rooms, where they will encounter everyday objects and bizarre artifacts, including a priceless chessboard. The activity is free with reservations by 12:00 pm of the previous friday at ga-afi-mn-bar.didattica@cultura.gov.it.

The Educational Services calendar of the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze e Musei del Bargello also includes activities dedicated to accessibility and inclusion, including thematic tours with an interpreter in Italian Sign Language (LIS): Friday, March 27th at 5:00 pm at Museo delle Cappelle Medicee, wednesday, April 15th at 5:00 pm at Museo Nazionale del Bargello, wednesday, April 29th at 5:00 pm at Complesso di Orsanmichele and friday, May 22nd at 5:00 pm at Museo di Palazzo Davanzati. These activities are free but reservations are required at info@culter.it or eventi.ensfirenze@gmail.com.

Finally, at Museo Nazionale del Bargello on wednesday, June 10th at 5:00 PM tactile experiences will be held, designed for the blind and visually impaired but open to anyone who wishes to experience a different approach to artwork through observation and sensory experience. The activities are free with reservations at info@culter.it.

All activities are free with purchase of the museum admission ticket, except for exemptions and reductions provided for by current legislation.
