The live restoration of the Perseus base: insights the construction site by museum staff
GAMB – Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze e Musei del Bargello presents a new initiative for all its visitors: starting Friday, July 3rd, 2026, the staff of Museo del Bargello will curate a series of in-depth studies on the restoration of the base of Benvenuto Cellini’s Perseus.
The meetings will offer insights into the various phases of the project, the techniques employed, and the activities that accompany the work of the restorers, professionals who typically remain less visible than in museum exhibitions. This initiative will provide a deeper understanding of an important artistic heritage conservation project.
The tours will be held every Friday from July 3rd to September 4th with two sessions, at 11 am and 4 pm, for a maximum of eight visitors for session. The tours, in Italian, last approximately 30 minutes and are free upon purchase of the museum entrance ticket, subject to exemptions and reductions provided for by current legislation. For information and reservations, please contact the museum courtyard entrance.
