HOURS

The Museum opening hours are from 8:15 am to 6:50 pm (last admission at 6:20 pm).

On Thursday December 5, the museum will extend its opening hours every until 10 p.m. (last admission 9:15 p.m.).

On Tuesday December 24 and December 31, the museum will close at 6 p.m. (last admission 5:15 p.m.).

Special openings: Monday, January 6 from 8:15 am to 6:50 pm (last admission at 6:20 pm).

Reservations are highly recommended, if you do not have a reservation, the wait for access may be long.
The museum closing procedures begin 10 minutes before the closing time, therefore access to the ground floor Musical Instruments rooms, and to the first floor exhibition rooms, is forbidden from 6.40 pm.

Closed: January 1, December 25, every Monday.

Groups of a maximum of 20 people including guide are allowed. The use of headphones (whisper) is mandatory for all groups consisting of 8 people or more​.

Accessibility

The museum is equipped with facilities for persons with disabilities. Entrance and ticket office are accessible from Via Ricasoli 60. Each of the halls and galleries that are open for exhibition are completely wheelchair accessible.

An accessible restroom is available at the ground floor, near the lift.

Useful Information

To access the Museum and ensure everyone’s safety, visitors must go through security inspection.

Items like scissors, blades, and any other metal objects that could pose a danger to people or the art works on display will be collected by the security staff at the entrance to the Museum and left at the metal detector.

The Museum does not have a cloakroom, therefore visitors with large bags and backpacks, helmets, etc. will not be allowed to enter. Access is allowed for bottles of water not exceeding 0.5 liters.

RULES FOR ACCESS AND VISIT TO THE MUSEUM

Lost items

Objects left at the metal detector and not collected on the day of the visit will remain in custody at the Museum until the first Tuesday of the following month. After this date they will be considered lost objects and delivered, in accordance with current legislation, to the Lost and Found Office of the Municipality of Florence

The same procedure will be followed for objects lost by visitors inside the Museum. The Museum does not under any circumstances provide for the shipment of forgotten or lost objects.
