The Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze is pleased to launch a new web app dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti, created by the museum as part of L’eterno contemporaneo. Michelangelo 1475–2025 – the celebratory resign dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the Florentine master.

Starting on September 30, 2025, visitors to the Galleria dell’Accademia will be able to access new, exclusive multimedia content created by the Florentine museum to provide a narrative overview of the works of the Renaissance genius.

Accessing the content is simple and immediate. The web app does not require any downloads: simply scan the QR codes located next to Michelangelo’s masterpieces to access a unique multimedia experience, rich in original content—texts, audio, and video—illustrating the history of the works, their contexts of origin, the techniques used to create them, as well as comparisons and relationships with other masters of the 16th century and works created by Michelangelo himself in Florence.

The experience does not end in the rooms of the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze. An interesting feature of the web app is the geolocation itinerary system, which invites viewers to discover other places in Florence linked to Michelangelo: the Medici Chapels, the Bargello National Museum, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Basilica of Santa Croce, to name but a few.

With the web app dedicated to Michelangelo, the Gallery reaffirms its commitment to accessibility, innovation, and sharing, offering a widespread and participatory experience in which Michelangelo returns as a guide and interlocutor for today’s generations: not only a symbol of the artistic greatness of the Renaissance, but a living figure capable of inspiring new interpretations and new forms of cultural experience.
