San Matteo e i Prigioni, esplorare la forma immersa nel marmo
Tactile tours for blind or visually impaired people, in collaboration with the Unione Italiana Ciechi ed Ipovedenti - Sezione Provinciale di Firenze
Wednesday, March 19 (4 p.m.) continues the cycle of inclusive tours organized by the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze as part of the cultural resign L’eterno contemporaneo. Michelangelo 1475 – 2025.
The thematic tactile tours San Matteo e i Prigioni, esplorare la forma immersa nel marmo (St. Matthew and the Prisoners, exploring form immersed in marble) delve into Michelangelo’s artistic research through the tactile exploration of his sculptures on display. For the occasion, users have the opportunity to touch the St. Matthew with the use of gloves and learn about the techniques used by the sculptor, thanks also to specially made reproductions of the tools used by the artist.
The tactile tours are organized in collaboration with the Unione Italiana Ciechi ed Ipovedenti – Sezione Provinciale di Firenze and Stazione Utopia.
The inclusive itineraries will return in the autumn, between October and December, with a full calendar of events dedicated to deaf people (8 visits in ISL) and blind or visually impaired people (6 tactile visits).
The cultural resign L’eterno contemporaneo. Michelangelo 1475 – 2025 will extend throughout 2025 and is designed to deepen our knowledge of Michelangelo’s masterpieces preserved at the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze – highlighting the artist’s vision, his innovative spirit and his extraordinary relevance.
