“Fuggite amanti amor. Rime e lamentazioni per Michelangelo” – Monday, October 27th
Vinicio Capossela and Mario Brunello will returnbe back to the Galleria dell’Accademiadi Firenze on Monday, October 27th 2025, at 6:00 pm to bring back the concert Fuggite, amanti, amor – Rime e lamentazioni per Michelangelo, eighteen years after its first performance in 2007.
The concert is part of the “The Eternal Contemporary. Michelangelo 1475 – 2025“, a program conceived by the Galleria to celebrate the 550th anniversary of Buonarroti’s birth. Beginning in March 2025, the exhibition explores the relationship between the Master’s work and contemporary art, alternating lectures, readings, thematic tours and musical performances.
“Fuggite, amanti, amor” is a project inspired by Michelangelo’s rime and first presented by Capossela in May 2007, as part of the Genio Fiorentino exhibition at the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence, and subsequently replicated in other Italian cities, including Rome and Milan. The original lineup included Mario Brunello on cello, Paolo Pandolfo on viol consort, and Vincenzo Vasi on rhythmic samples. The idea was to connect the strength of the cello with the mournful grace of the violas, restoring the emotional intensity of Michelangelo’s rhymes.
Today, the concert returns with a new look. Vinicio Capossela will be accompanied by Mario Brunello on cello, the Consorteria delle Tenebre (Teodoro Baù, Rosa Helena Ippolito, Noelia Reverte Reche, violas da gamba), and Vincenzo Vasi (theremin and percussion).
The program includes pieces from Michelangelo’s rime, some set to music by Philippe Eidel and others by Capossela himself, orchestrated by Carlo Rebeschini, creating an intense dialogue between voice, piano, and period instruments.
Admission is free with mandatory reservations on Eventibrite, starting Monday, October 13 2025 at 2:00 pm: fuggite-amanti-amor.eventbrite.com
