Florence of Children 2025: The “Canticle of the Creatures” at the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze

The Galleria dell’Accademia idi Firenze is part in the twelfth edition of Florence of Children, an event that this year is named Let’s Build Peace. The Song of the World and will be held from may, 23rd to May, 25th. The great event, which the City of Florence organizes every year for children and young people, is inspired by peace and the Canticle of the Creatures by Saint Francis of Assisi, hence the title of the activity curated by the Educational Services and Accessibility Department of the museum The Canticle of the Creatures at the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze. Follow the symbols of peace. The initiative is promoted by the Education Department of the Municipality of Florence and organized by the MUS.E Foundation.

On Saturday, May 24th and Sunday, May 25th at 12:30 am, 2 pm and 4:30 pm it will be possible to participate at the free activities by booking here: The Canticle of the Creatures at the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze. Bookings will be active from 10 am on May, 19th and will end at 10 pm on May, 22nd 2025.

In the Sala dei Giotteschi, the meeting place and start of the activities, the museum staff will briefly tell the life of Saint Francis and the origins of the Canticle of the Creatures through the panels by Taddeo Gaddi with the Stories of Saint Francis and Christ. At the end of the visit, children will be gifted by a small souvenir.

Afterwards, children and their families will be able to search for the symbols of peace (dove, olive tree, etc.) and the natural elements mentioned in the Canticle of the Creatures (sun, moon, stars, water, fire, clouds) in the paintings in the rooms on the ground floor. To guide this special symbol hunt, children will have a map, a short presentation of the project, and instructions. The map can be downloaded from the official website of the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze and will be available at the museum during the days of the initiative. The map indicates the meeting point for the start of the activity, which is the Sala dei Giotteschi on the ground floor of the museum, adjacent to the left transept of the Tribuna del David.

The activity will end with an invitation to photograph your favorite details and share them on the museum’s official social channels Facebook and Instagram.

The activity will last about an hour and is aimed at children between 6 and 12 years of age. Each child must be accompanied by an adult (only one adult, also responsible for several children, to encourage the maximum presence of participants).
