Soggettive d’arte

The Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze and the Department of History, Archaeology, Geography, Art and Entertainment – SAGAS of the University of Florence continue their collaboration, born under the Framework Agreement signed between the two institutions, and launch Soggettive d’arte, a new digital storytelling project.

Soggettive d’arte offers a unique narrative of the museum, conceived as a collection of stories told through the personal perspective of each artist. The works thus become a starting point for narratives crafted in diverse styles—from memory to speaking works—that touch on universal themes and engage visitors.

The challenge was to bring together highly specialized art history training with new forms of communication, with the goal of reaching an increasingly broad audience. The initiative was made possible by students of the “Museum Education and Teaching” program, who created short narrative videos dedicated to selected works within the museum and published them on the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze’s YouTube channel in a dedicated playlist. Each video presents a personal and original story constructed using a variety of multimedia languages and tools: audio, text, images, videos, and animations, including those generated with the support of artificial intelligence. The goal is to bring out a subjective and authentic perspective on cultural heritage, capable of establishing an emotional connection with the public.

For the students, the project provided a first concrete introduction to the world of museum communication and, at the same time, a different way to narrate the accessible collections through short stories, memories, anecdotes, and insights. Digital storytelling thus emerges as a creative and educational tool, designed to spark curiosity, raise awareness of collections, and offer the public a new way to enjoy them.
